The holiday season is upon us, with Thanksgiving just around the corner! This year has been quite challenging for many with the COVID-19 global pandemic, and families worldwide have been impacted.

It’s always a wonderful gesture to spread some cheer during the holidays, so why not spread some kindness throughout the month of giving!

Did you know that the idea of performing random acts of kindness started in a restaurant in 1982 by Anne Herbert? It sure did! While at the restaurant located in Sausalito, California, she scrawled “practice random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty” on a placemat. From there, the idea spread to bumper stickers, a published book, other memorabilia, and every year on February 17th; we celebrate National Random Acts of Kindness Day.

But we don’t have to wait until February to perform random acts of kindness – it can be done at any time throughout the year! And believe it or not, but spreading some cheer through random acts of kindness does not have to be expensive or elaborate. In fact, a little goes a long way!

You can do various things to sprinkle kindness through your local community, with loved ones, or on a global scale. Here are some ideas for you to help get you started:

Create Bookmarks

Reading is a passion for many, and creating simple bookmarks that you can donate to your local library, place them in books at coffee shops or cafes, or hand them to readers is a wonderful way to spread good vibes.

No need to worry about being an artist; create from the heart. You could create them on your computer, print, laminate them, grab your craft supplies, and let your creativity move you to create something magical.

Leave Quarters at the Laundromat

There is nothing worse than being at the laundromat and running out of quarters or not having the money to wash your clothing because you are homeless or short on money.

Whatever the reason, stop by your local laundromat and leave a few dollars with quarters for someone in need. Doing laundry can be expensive, so surprise someone with the money to do their laundry!

Hire a Maid

This time of year, everyone is busy preparing for the upcoming holidays on top of their personal errands, careers, and more. Surprise someone with the gift of a clean home, laundry or light cleaning, party clean up or vacation cleaning services from Maid for You, Inc.!

We understand how challenging it can be to keep up with the demands of keeping a home clean regularly, let alone during the holidays. Rather than worry about how your loved one will get it all done, allow us to graciously do it for them.
