Do you feel like going on a last-minute vacation this year to escape the emotional stress of life with COVID-19? This year, there are many different precautions to consider and apply when you go on a trip because of the virus, but it can still be very relaxing!
Below are five ways to stay safe during a last-minute vacation this summer to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 to you and others:
Research
Before you make any last-minute vacation plans this summer, you must do your research! Go online and find out what places are in which re-opening stage, which areas require masks, and any other necessary factors. Some locations may not even be open, so you’ll need to find that out too.
Also, consider that while some states or places allow flying for travel, there are safer alternatives.
Avoid Large Crowds
This year when deciding on a last-minute vacation, it’d be much safer for you, your family, and everyone else if you chose to take a trip that didn’t involve being in large crowds or crowded areas. Trips like this can be fun by camping with a significant other, family, or a close friend staying nearby. You could plan to go on a road trip or rent out a lovely house to stay in for a while.
Airbnb’s are very popular this year because of COVID-19. This way, people can stay local or close to home, some don’t require a flight to get there, and you typically aren’t around crowds. What is very appealing about Airbnb’s is that some include many different themes, so it’s like you are on vacation elsewhere than where you live! You can also choose to be surrounded by mountains, rivers, and other inviting nature that people typically travel for when on vacation! Be sure that the Airbnb is professionally maintained and that the owners and cleaners are taking COVID precautions to maintain a healthy environment!
Pack Protective Gear
Before you leave for any last-minute vacation, it’s imperative for you, your loved ones, and others that you pack protective gear for the trip. This should include:
Disinfectant Wipes
If you choose to rent a house, Airbnb, go camping, or on a road trip, you will need to pack your disinfectant wipes to disinfect any high-touch surfaces such as bathroom door handles, sink handles, steering wheels, trunk, light switches and more.
Hand Soap and/or Hand Sanitizer
No matter where you go on vacation, have a bar or bottle of hand soap or hand sanitizer packed and available if the place you’re staying at doesn’t have this available for their guests.
Face Masks
It’s very likely that wherever you plan your vacation, face masks will be mandatory, and you won’t be allowed in most places without one. If you’re on a road trip, another passenger or roadside assistance will help you wear a mask; if you are entering a campsite, you will need to wear a mask to talk to the park rangers. When in doubt, pack a mask.
Plan Safe, Creative and Have Fun
Just because COVID-19 has limited our vacation dreams this year, doesn’t mean we have to stay limited! We can think outside the box, get creative about last-minute vacation plans, and enjoy our trip immensely! Staying safe and having fun can work hand in hand – Go for it!
